This Notice applies if you:

  • Use Halal Eats apps or websites to request deliveries or other services.
  • Request food, groceries, or other products via Halal Eats or guest checkout features.
  • Receive services arranged by another account holder.

This Notice does not apply if you provide services via Halal Eats (for example, as a driver or courier). A separate notice applies to service providers.

Privacy practices may vary depending on legal requirements in different regions. Country-specific provisions are included at the end of this Notice.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information from three main sources: directly from you, from your use of our services, and from third parties.

a. Information you provide

  • Account details: name, address, email, phone number, login details, payment methods, preferences, settings, and loyalty program data.
  • Demographics: date of birth, age, gender, or inferred gender where necessary (for eligibility or marketing).
  • Identity verification: government-issued ID, selfies, or other documentation used to confirm identity.
  • User content: messages to support, reviews, ratings, uploaded photos, audio, or other feedback.
     

b. Information collected through use

  • Location data: precise or approximate location depending on device settings and permissions.
  • Trip/order data: pickup and drop-off points, route, merchant/restaurant details, items ordered, instructions, cancellations, and delivery proof.
  • Usage data: app activity, pages viewed, crash logs, access dates and times.
  • Device data: device identifiers, operating system, hardware, language, mobile network, IP address.
  • Communications data: content and metadata from calls and messages between users where permitted.
     

c. Information from other sources

  • Authorities: data shared by law enforcement or health authorities.
  • Partners: banks, marketing providers, data resellers, loyalty program operators, and social media services.
  • Identity services: verification and fraud prevention partners.
  • Other users: information from those who book services for you or submit complaints/disputes involving you.
  • Referral programs: data from users who referred you to Halal Eats.

We use your data to provide, maintain, and improve services, and for related operational, legal, and safety purposes.

  • Service delivery: matching riders and drivers, processing payments, providing receipts, enabling features, and managing accounts.
  • Safety and fraud prevention: identity checks, monitoring suspicious activity, preventing account misuse, and providing live safety support.
  • Personalisation: tailoring recommendations, promotions, and in-app experiences.
  • Marketing: sending targeted offers, showing relevant ads, and evaluating marketing effectiveness.
  • User communication: enabling messages between riders, drivers, couriers, and merchants.
  • Customer support: investigating complaints, troubleshooting issues, and improving support.
  • Research and development: improving usability, testing features, and training machine learning systems.
  • Legal compliance: responding to lawful requests, managing disputes, and complying with regulations.
     

3. Automated Processes

  • Match users: pairing riders with drivers and recipients with couriers.
  • Set pricing: calculating fares and delivery charges using factors like distance, time, demand, and traffic.
  • Prevent fraud: monitoring accounts and transactions to detect unusual or suspicious behaviour.
     

These processes help ensure efficient, safe, and reliable service.

  • With emergency services: when you enable emergency data sharing.

  • With service providers: including cloud storage, analytics, payment processors, safety and identity verification partners, and advertising platforms.
  • With Halal Eats affiliates: for internal business and service provision.
  • For legal reasons: to comply with law, enforce terms, resolve disputes, or protect safety.
  • During business changes: in the event of mergers, acquisitions, or restructuring.
     

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data for as long as needed to provide services or comply with legal obligations. For example:

  • Account data: retained for the life of the account.
  • Transaction data: retained for up to 7 years for tax and regulatory reasons.

You may request deletion of your account at any time via the Privacy Center or website. Data may be retained beyond account deletion where legally required or necessary for safety, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

  • Privacy settings: location sharing, emergency data sharing, gender identity, marketing preferences.
  • Device permissions: control what device data Halal Eats can access.
  • Ratings: view and manage ratings provided to you.
  • Marketing choices: opt in or out of marketing communications and personalised ads.
  • Data access: view or download your information through the Privacy Center.
  • Account deletion: request deletion at any time.
  • Objections and complaints: request restrictions on processing or lodge complaints with regulators.
     

8. Legal Information

  • Data controllers: Halal Eats Technologies, Inc. is the main controller, with joint responsibility by regional affiliates in some jurisdictions.
  • Legal bases for processing: Halal Eats relies on contract performance, consent, legitimate interests, or legal obligations depending on context.
  • International transfers: Halal Eats processes data globally and applies safeguards such as encryption, access controls, and legal transfer mechanisms (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, Data Privacy Framework).
  • User rights: in regions with specific privacy laws (e.g., EEA, UK, Switzerland), you have additional rights regarding access, portability, and complaints.
     

9. Updates

This Notice may be updated periodically. If material changes are made, Halal Eats will notify you in advance through the app, website, or by email. Continued use of services after an update constitutes acceptance of the new Notice.
